St Mark's Men's Group

All meetings take place on Tuesday evenings at 8.00 pm in the Parlour
of the Heyn Hall. Each contributor will speak/present for around
40minutes and there will be an opportunity for questions at the end of
each talk. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available afterwards in the
main hall.
23 November 2010 – Clive Scoular is an historian who has made himself
something of an expert on many aspects of life in Ireland. He has
agreed to talk to us about Northern Ireland's six Prime Ministers-from
Lord Brookeborough through to Brian Faulkner and will provide many
interesting insights into what now seems to be a very distant era.
8 February 2011 – Ian Webb has held many important posts including
joint chairmanship of the International Golf Federation; chairman of the
Walker Cup Committee; chairman of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club‟s
General Committee; and a member of the Rules Committee for the
Augusta Masters held in Augusta this year. The title of his talk is yet to
be decided but he will reflect on his many amusing and other
experiences of the world of golf.
22 March 2011 – Roger Dixon works for the Ulster Folk and Transport
Museum and will talk to us about " The Great Houses of Belfast and their
Owners" a subject which is of great interest now that many of the Great
Houses are disappearing or have been converted for other uses.
10 May 2011 – Ian McElhinney is a well known professional actor who
has a lifetime‟s experience in stage, television and film working with
actors like Liam Neeson, Albert Finney, and on the recent T V historical
drama "The Tudors". He is also the son of a Church of Ireland rector and
will explore with us something of his acting career and his experience of
harbouring acting ambitions in a rectory in the 1960‟s and 70‟s.
