ST MARK'S DUNDELA BELFAST

St Mark's Choir


Under the direction of Mr Peter Hunter, St Mark's choir sing at weekly services. These are 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Sundays, in addition they also sing at evening services every night during Holy Week.

The choir also give concerts throughout the year and normally have a trip each autumn to places such as Dublin or the Isle of Man. They spend a weekend together and sing at Sunday services in a local church or cathedral.

Above is a photo of the choir taken in 1998 when we visited Dublin for a weekend. We sang at St Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral at the Sunday morning service and at evensong in the afternoon.

Christ Church Dublin 1997

Above is a photo of the choir taken in 1997 when we again visited Dublin for a weekend. We sang at Christ Church Cathedral (Church of Ireland) at the Sunday morning service and at evensong in the afternoon.

The choir consists of approximately 25 voices.

At present it is divided as follows:

8 basses

Broadcasts

The choir broadcasts regularly on both local and national radio.

These include:

A live broadcast of the morning service on Sunday 15 November 1998 on RTE radio incorporating details of the life of C S Lewis.

A live broadcast of the morning service on Mothering Sunday 1995 on BBC Radio Ulster.

"In Harmony" on 2 January 1994 on BBC Radio Ulster.
A half hour program with music and interviews exclusively from St Mark's choir.
Other pieces were broadcast on 19th and 26th December 1993

Several broadcasts of hymns and anthems on BBC Radio. The most recent being with the choirs of the Belmont District Council of Churches broadcast in January 1997.
